Course Description: This 2-day lecture/workshop prepares the practitioner on the assessment and treatment of lower extremity injuries. A review of referred pain from lumbar spondylosis will be discussed due to its relationship with several lower extremity pain patterns. Many sport and orthopedic related injuries will be covered such as greater trochanter bursitis, adductor and hamstring strains, knee pain including cartilage and ligament injuries as well as, lower leg injuries, shin splints, ankle sprain and fractures. We will examine the mechanical “how and why” injury occurs using orthopedic physical evaluations and manual muscle testing to assess the musculoskeletal system.

We will assess and treat lower extremity injuries from both TCM and Western perspectives. Advanced needle techniques, proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitated stretching and myofascial release techniques are also presented and practiced.

This seminar greatly enhances the success rate in treating lower extremity injuries by combining western and eastern diagnostic and treatment techniques.

Course Requirements:

  • Participants must be licensed or registered acupuncturist and provide proof of having graduated from an accredited Traditional Chinese Medicine acupuncture school or are intern level students of the TCM school where the training is running..
  • Participants must also provide proof of active license / registration and malpractice insurance.
  • Current intern level students of Grant MacEwan  are also eligible to attend and must provide a copy of their student ID.

Cancellation and Refund Policy

Seminar Cancellations

Cancellations received greater than 14 days prior to course start date may be eligible to receive a full refund, less a $50 cancellation fee and a 8% processing fee if paid by credit card. Cancellations made within 14 days prior to course start date are not eligible for a refund. Registrants who choose not to attend an event without notice will not be eligible for a refund. Refunds will be credited back to the original credit card used for payment.

AcuSport Cancellation Terms

AcuSport Seminar Series reserves the right to cancel an event due to low enrollment or other circumstances which would make the event non-viable.

If AcuSport Seminar Series is forced to cancel an event, a full refund of course tuition only will be granted to those already registered.
