Christopher — C.SMA of the Month (Aug. 2018)
Christopher C. Randle MS, L.Ac., C.SMA
Christopher is one of our sports acupuncturists in Oakland, California — certified in Sports Medicine Acupuncture®. He describes how his practice has transformed since beginning the SMAC program in 2015, and how this training has greatly enhanced his skills as an acupuncturist in the various venues where he practices:
“Even though I had been using the Motor Point Index for two years while working with professional athletes, including the Golden State Warriors, it wasn’t until I actually started the SMAC program that I was really able to see the bigger picture. It’s amazing how much more fully I understand what’s going on with an athlete’s body than I could before my SMAC training. Now, I always evaluate the spine and do static and functional assessments to get a structural baseline for my treatment plans. My patients, both pro and non-pro athletes, can feel the difference in the well-rounded treatments I now provide…this is a comprehensive training program and is revolutionizing how we practice our medicine.”
Christopher emphasizes how not only his own skills have greatly improved, but how he has also inspired several others to follow down the path of Sport Medicine Acupuncture:
“I am the orthopedic acupuncture specialist at Highland Hospital in Oakland where we have a DAOM residency program. After interning with me for 1-1/2 years, one of the interns has gone on to become the acupuncturist for a professional ballet company in San Francisco.”
