What are the requirements to attend the SMAC program?
Participants must be a Licensed or Registered Acupuncturist and provide proof of having graduated from an ACAOM accredited Traditional Chinese Medicine Acupuncture School or equivalent. Participants must have a minimum of 2000 hours of Acupuncture and TCM training and provide proof of having an active license.
What if I cannot attend all the courses the first year?
Participants may take individual courses and earn CAE’s / PDA’s but must complete all four modules within two years from their start date in order to become Certified in Sports Medicine Acupuncture. If the Courses or modules are not available within a 2 year window the allowed completion time frame would be extended accordingly.
What if I want to pay by module but want to make sure I can get into the next module before it sells out?
SMAC participants who want to become certified and are paying by module will receive an advance notice when the next module is filling up and will be given a 10 day period to enroll in the next module before the registration becomes open to everyone.
Do I have to pay for the whole program once?
Each course may be purchased separately but discounts are available for enrolling in the entire program or in entire modules.
Do you offer financing?
We do not offer financing but we do have a payment plan: participants would put a 25% deposit down then 10 equal monthly payments would be debited from their credit card.
I see you also have certification classes in San Diego as well as NY, can I attend classes in both locations?
Yes certification courses are interchangeable in between locations. As long as participants complete all 14 courses, 4 module exams and the final practical exam within 2 years they can achieve certification.
What is your Cancellation Policy?
Seminar & Certification Course Cancellations
Cancellations received greater than 14 days prior to course start date may be eligible to receive a full refund, less a $50 cancellation fee and a 8% transaction fee for credit card payments. Additional fee adjustment of 5% for payment by module as well as 10% fee adjustment for payment of full program will also be applicable. All cancellations must be made in writing. Cancellations made within 14 days prior to course start date are not eligible for a refund. Registrants who choose not to attend an event without notice will not be eligible for a refund. Refunds will be credited back to the original credit card used for payment or by check if applicable.
Payment Plan Cancellations
Participants canceling their Payment Plan will be refunded the amount of any canceled courses if received greater than two weeks before the next course begins, less a $50 cancellation fee. The total cost of all previously registered courses will be charged along with a 8% processing fee of the amount already paid upon cancellation. A $50 cancellation fee would also apply. Participants will not be eligible for a refund for any courses canceled within two weeks prior to course start date. All cancellations must be made in writing.
Participants will not receive credit for any missed sessions and will not receive certificates of completion for partially completed courses.
AcuSport Cancellation Terms
AcuSport Seminar Series reserves the right to cancel an event due to low enrollment or other circumstances which would make the event non-viable. If AcuSport Seminar Series is forced to cancel an event, a full refund of course tuition only will be granted to those already registered
Are there any exams involved in the Certification Program?
Yes, Participants enrolled for SMA Certification must pass 4, online Module exams and pass the Final Practical Exam to become a certified graduate of the SMAC program

Do I have to start the program at the beginning?
Participants may start the program at any stage. The curriculum is designed with a sequential learning thread within each module so it is recommended to start at the beginning of a module if possible.
Can 3rd year students attend or do they need to wait to graduate?
We do allow 3rd or 4th year students to attend the non-needling courses the first year and then they may attend the needling courses once they have become licensed.

Are your courses approved for Continuing Education credits?
Yes, all courses are approved for CA. State Acupuncture board, NCCAOM & the Fascial Release for the Myofascial Meridians courses are approved with (NCBTMB) as well as IASI .
Can licensed massage therapists attend these courses?
Yes, licensed massage therapists may attend the non-needling courses: Anatomy Palpation Cadaver Labs, Fascial Release for Myofascial Meridians, and Postural Assessment & Corrective Exercise courses.
What is the difference between the Foundational Courses & the SMA Certification Courses?
The foundational courses are developed for licensed acupuncturist to learn the integration of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Sports Medicine in the assessment and treatment of many common musculoskeletal injuries are excellent preparation for the Advanced Level, Sports Medicine Acupuncture Certification Program.
The certification Program classes are is designed to provide the highest level of advanced level training in the assessment and treatment of sports, work and orthopedic injuries. Graduates will have the distinction of being a certified practitioner in the field of Sports Medicine Acupuncture ®.
